Sheer & solar fabrics
Soften glare while retaining some connection to the view. More open fabrics generally preserve more visibility; privacy changes with the lighting indoors and outdoors. A daytime view does not guarantee privacy at night.
Translucent fabrics
Diffuse daylight for a softer room. Consider the fabric’s privacy characteristics as well as its colour and texture, especially where windows face neighbours or the street.
Blackout fabrics
Block light through the fabric for bedrooms and media spaces. Light can still enter around the edges of a roller shade, so fabric alone does not guarantee a completely dark room.

Wireless, battery-powered shades
A practical option when finished walls make new wiring difficult. We consider window size, product suitability and access for future battery replacement. Years of use between battery changes: Lutron advertises 3–5 years of battery life for Sivoia QS Triathlon shades. Triathlon Select is a different model, with a typical battery life of about 2 years.
Actual life depends on shade size, fabric, battery quality, frequency of movement and system setup. Lutron’s battery-life guidance assumes two full up-and-down cycles per day. We confirm the expected performance and recommended replacement batteries for your selected shade.
Wired power, without battery changes
Worth considering during construction or renovation, while cable routes and power-supply locations can be planned. The selected shade determines the correct supply and wiring requirements. Wireless control and wired power can be part of the same installation.
For Sivoia QS Triathlon, battery or wired power must be specified when ordering; battery-powered units cannot simply be converted to wired power later.
Details that make the difference.
Final measurements happen before ordering. We check the opening, mounting surface, trim, handles and service access—not just the glass size.
Inside mount
A shade fitted within the window opening can keep trim visible. Recess depth and clearance must suit the selected hardware.
Outside mount
Mounting above or beyond the opening can add coverage. We plan overlap, projection and the relationship to nearby walls or doors.
Daylight plus blackout
Two fabrics may call for two shades. Triathlon has no dual bracket; Lutron recommends an inside-mounted shade with a separate outside-mounted shade positioned to clear it. This arrangement needs space planned before ordering.

Caséta: compatible Sivoia QS Triathlon shades require a Caséta PRO Smart Hub for Lutron app integration. Check the hub model before assuming an existing Caséta installation is ready.
RadioRA 3 or existing RadioRA 2: we review the installed processor, shade models and project requirements to determine the appropriate integration. Compatibility is specific to the equipment.

Can motorized shades be installed without opening walls?
Often, battery-powered options can avoid new power wiring. Suitability still depends on window dimensions, mounting conditions and the shade selected.
Will blackout shades make the room completely dark?
Blackout fabric blocks light through the material. Edge gaps and other light sources still matter. Tell us how dark you need the room so coverage and any additional treatments can be planned.
Can I start with just a few windows?
Yes. We can discuss a room-by-room approach and consider future windows when choosing the control system. Later additions remain subject to product availability and system compatibility.
What affects the price?
Window size and quantity, fabric, shade family, power, mounting, controls and installation access all influence the quote. Photos and approximate dimensions help us begin; final measurements are required before ordering.
