Start with what matters to you

One room. A few upgrades.
Or a connected home.

Choose the improvements you will use every day. These product families are examples we can review for your project; the exact models, accessories and integrations are confirmed before installation.

01 · LIGHTING & ATMOSPHERE

Philips Hue & Lutron

Colour, warm white lighting, dimming and scenes for everyday living. Philips Hue suits smart bulbs, lamps and light strips; Lutron Caséta and RadioRA 3 offer dedicated lighting controls.

We check fixture loads, dimming compatibility, switch wiring and the right bridge or hub.

Explore Lutron lighting →
02 · SWITCHES & SMART PLUGS

TP-Link & Leviton Decora Smart

Control lamps and suitable plug-in devices, add schedules, or upgrade wall switches with TP-Link Tapo, Kasa and Leviton Decora Smart products. Electric FX installs compatible smart switches, dimmers and plug-in controls, including setup of supported Decora Smart devices in the My Leviton app.

We verify the exact model, neutral-wire requirements, multi-location switching and load rating. Matter support varies by device.

03 · CAMERAS & THE FRONT DOOR

Google Nest cameras & doorbells

See who is at the door and keep an eye on key areas through compatible Google Nest cameras and video doorbells. We plan placement, power and a dependable network connection.

Doorbell transformer and chime compatibility, wired versus battery options, viewing angles and recording subscriptions are reviewed before installation.

Explore Google Nest doorbells →
04 · TEMPERATURE & COMFORT

Google Nest & ecobee smart thermostats

Consider ecobee or Google Nest for compatible heating and cooling systems, and a suitable Mysa for Baseboards model for compatible electric baseboard heating.

We identify the system voltage, equipment type, wiring and power requirements first. A low-voltage HVAC thermostat cannot directly replace a line-voltage baseboard thermostat.

Check ecobee compatibility →
05 · DAYLIGHT & PRIVACY

Somfy-powered shades

Add motorized blinds, roller shades or drapery with suitable Somfy motors and controls. TaHoma can bring compatible motors into app control and supported smart home integrations.

We confirm the motor protocol, power source, gateway and integration. Shade fabrication, measurements and mounting are coordinated with your window-covering supplier as needed.

06 · MUSIC THROUGHOUT YOUR HOME

Sonos audio

Bring music into one room or several with Sonos speakers and a system planned around how you listen. Integrate suitable soundbars, amplifiers and architectural speakers where appropriate.

We plan speaker locations, power, network connections and concealed wiring, then help set up the agreed rooms and controls.

Useful additions

Small upgrades.
Everyday reassurance.

Smart locks

Yale smart locks, Schlage Encode and other compatible smart locks can simplify entry. We review the chosen platform, door fit and setup; door alterations or locksmith work are coordinated separately.

Leak & contact sensors

Aqara and similar sensors can provide useful alerts around water heaters, laundry areas, doors and windows. Confirm the required hub and notification support. A leak sensor alone does not shut off the water.

Wi-Fi & wired networking

TP-Link Deco mesh Wi-Fi, Ethernet cabling and suitable access points can support a growing connected home. We assess coverage where devices will be installed, including exterior camera locations.

Smart home apps & controls

Your preferred app.
Professionally set up.

Electric FX provides installation and setup for Home Assistant, Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Samsung SmartThings.

We help choose the right platform, install the required controls and hubs, connect compatible products, and make the finished system easy to use. Start fresh, expand your current setup or ask us to troubleshoot an existing system.

Book smart home app setup
My Leviton app & Decora Smart installation

We install suitable Leviton Decora Smart switches, dimmers and plug-in controls, then set up supported devices in the My Leviton app. Setup can include your homeowner-owned account and residence, Wi-Fi enrollment, room names, lighting scenes, schedules and supported voice or smart home integrations.

We check the exact product generation, wiring, neutral requirements, connected load and any required bridge or hub before installation. My Leviton features and Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa or Matter compatibility vary by model; Decora Smart Wi-Fi, HomeKit and Z-Wave products do not all use the same setup method. We test the agreed controls and explain everyday operation.

My Leviton setup guidance →

Home Assistant installation & setup

For custom automation and local control. We install and configure suitable Home Assistant hardware, connect supported integrations, organize dashboards and build agreed automations. We can plan compatible Zigbee, Z-Wave or Thread hardware where required, plus backups and secure remote access.

Local-capable devices can operate without cloud access, but cloud-dependent integrations still need an internet connection. We explain updates, backups and ongoing maintenance. Explore Home Assistant →

Apple Home installation & setup

For households using Apple devices. We set up the Home app, add compatible HomeKit and Matter accessories, organize rooms, create scenes and automations, and configure supported Siri controls. We help set up a suitable home hub and household access.

Hub and Thread border router requirements depend on the accessories and functions. We confirm compatibility before pairing lights, locks, thermostats or shades. Apple home hub guidance →

Google Home installation & setup

For Google Nest and mixed-brand homes. We set up Google Home, link supported manufacturer accounts, pair compatible Nest and Matter devices, name rooms, and configure household routines. We also help set up compatible speakers, displays and supported voice controls.

Camera features, subscriptions, voice services and device functions vary by model, account and Canadian availability. We test the features included in your installation. Google Home setup guidance →

Amazon Alexa installation & setup

For convenient voice control. We set up the Alexa app and compatible Echo devices, connect supported smart home products and manufacturer skills, organize room groups, and create practical routines for lighting, comfort and everyday use.

Device discovery and setup methods vary. We verify each product’s Alexa support and any hub or account requirements, then demonstrate the agreed voice commands. Alexa device setup guidance →

Samsung SmartThings installation & setup

For connected devices and whole-home routines. We set up the SmartThings app and a suitable hub where needed, add supported devices, organize rooms and create routines using compatible sensors, lights, locks, shades and thermostats.

Zigbee, Z-Wave, Thread and Matter support depend on the specific hub and device; not every SmartThings hub includes every radio. We select the hardware around your system. SmartThings compatibility guidance →

From device installation to homeowner handover

Your agreed setup can include app installation, homeowner-owned account configuration, device pairing, room names, dashboards, scenes, schedules, supported voice controls, household access and notification preferences. We test the agreed functions and walk you through everyday use. Required hubs, subscriptions, advanced programming and ongoing support are identified in your quote. Support for all five platforms does not mean every product or feature works with every platform.

Make the pieces work together

Choose your platform.
Then your products.

Google Home, Apple Home, Amazon Alexa and Samsung SmartThings each support different devices and functions. We review what you already own, who will use the system, and how you want to control it.

Matter can help compatible products work across platforms, but it is not a promise that every feature or device will work together. Some setups need a bridge, hub or Thread border router, and manufacturer apps may still be needed.

Before you book

Smart home
questions, answered.

Practical advice for choosing devices and planning the installation.

Can you install smart home products I have already purchased?

Yes—send the exact models and product links before booking. We review compatibility, electrical approval for use in Ontario, required accessories and the work involved. Products that do not suit the wiring, load, environment or chosen platform may need to be exchanged.

Will Philips Hue, TP-Link, Google and Somfy all work in one app?

Some combinations can share a platform such as Google Home, Apple Home, Amazon Alexa or SmartThings, but support depends on the exact models, hubs and available integrations. We confirm the functions you want; advanced features may still require the manufacturer’s app.

What are Matter and Thread?

Matter is a smart home compatibility standard supported by selected products and platforms. Thread is one networking technology some Matter devices use. A compatible Matter controller—and a Thread border router for Thread devices—may be needed. A Matter label does not guarantee every feature is available in every app.

Do smart switches need a neutral wire?

Many do, while some models have different wiring requirements. We check the actual switch box, circuit, light fixtures, multi-location switching and device instructions. Smart bulbs also need a suitable control arrangement; they should not be paired with an ordinary dimmer unless the manufacturer explicitly permits it.

Can you replace my thermostat with Nest, ecobee or Mysa?

We first identify the heating system and check the exact thermostat’s compatibility. Low-voltage HVAC systems may need a C wire or an approved power solution. Electric baseboard heating requires a suitable line-voltage thermostat rated for the connected load. HVAC equipment issues are coordinated with your heating contractor.

Can my existing Somfy shades be made smart?

Often there is an integration option, but the motor model, radio protocol and current controls must be identified first. We review compatibility with a suitable gateway such as TaHoma and your preferred platform. Different motor types may offer different feedback and control features.

Will cameras or doorbells need a subscription?

Some recording history, advanced notifications and other features require a paid plan. For example, Google Home Premium offers additional features for compatible Nest devices. We explain the selected model’s included features and optional ongoing costs; subscriptions are separate unless your quote states otherwise.

Will everything keep working if the internet goes down?

It depends on the equipment. Some wall controls and local automations may continue, while remote access, cloud recordings, voice services or notifications can be affected. We discuss offline behaviour and manual controls during planning, and test the agreed functions during handover.
